BTSidekick Help Center

How does BTSidekick determine my location?

The BTSidekick Application usually starts up in cell-site detection mode, to determine your approximate location. The advantage of Cell-site detection is that the App will work even if your phone does not have GPS functionality or in cases where a GPS signal can't be acquired (such as indoors). This location is usually accurate to within a few thousand metres.

You will see '±' before your approximate location in the location bar.

Once your device gets a GPS lock, it should provide you with a more accurate location. At this point, the '±' will disappear from the location in the location bar.

Please note: Certain carriers block third party software from accessing your device's internal GPS. Even if your device has an internal GPS, it may not be compatible with BTSidekick. We recommend contacting your mobile provider to confirm the details of use of your device's GPS.
